Robert F. Dalton, 91

ADAMS, Mass. —

Robert Francis “Dubber” Dalton, 91, of Adams died April 22, 2024 at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in Adams on October 27, 1932, son of the late Delbert and Loretta (Bissaillon) Dalton. He attended Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams High School in 1950.

He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the US Air Force from 1952 until his Honorable Discharge as Airman 1st Class in 1956. He was a member of the Local 151 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union for many years until his retirement. He leaves behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those he touched. Dubber was known for his generosity, compassion, and willingness to lend a helping hand. His heart of gold knew no bounds, and his acts of kindness knew no limits. His use of duct tape and philosophy of “why throw it out when you might need it” were well known by all. Dubber was a jack of all trades; whether it was laying carpets, putting on roofs, or siding houses; his knowledge was invaluable.

A devoted family man, Dubber cherished his loved ones above all else. His love for his family and friends was immeasurable, and he took great joy in spending time with them and creating memories that will be treasured for generations to come. He was an avid sports enthusiast, especially baseball (Red Sox), football, basketball, and playing tennis on Sundays. He was very involved with his sons’ Little League and Babe Ruth teams. He coached, umpired, and refereed baseball and basketball, and was the number one fan at all his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. Many memories were made playing pool volleyball, a competitive family sport. The neighbors heard lots of laughing and arguing on summer weekends. His sweet tooth was also passed on to his grandchildren as he could never say no to a bowl of ice cream!

He leaves his beloved wife of 65 years, Eleanor Sprague Dalton, and his children Brian Dalton and his wife Margaret of Largo, FL, Bruce Dalton and his wife Carolee of Merrimack, NH, and Deborah Loomer and her husband Alfred of Windsor, CT as well as his grandchildren Jaenna Babajane (Hassan), Anthony Kent (Jamie), Megan Dalton, Nicole Chaves, and Mitchell Dalton. He was a great grandpa to Stella and Cyrus Babajane. He also leaves his close friend who was like a brother to him, Bernard “Bunk” Bassi. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Amy Chaves.

Per his wishes, there will be no calling hours and funeral services and burial will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Adams Police Athletic League, PO Box 241, Adams, MA or Adams Friends of the Council on Aging, 3 Hoosac St, Adams, MA. The PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, Adams, is in charge of arrangements. To leave a message of condolence, please go online to www.paciorekfuneral.com

Elli, Brian, Bruce and Deb, Just want to offer my Condolences to all of you and extended family. The Obit and Comments couldn't sum it up any better about Dub as a person. To start out as my Little League coach and turn into a 50 + year friendship that i will always cherish. Not to mention his favorite line he always said to me ((Hammer, don't get smart, stay the way you are) Rest in peace Dub,

Dubber, rest in peace good man? you always had that great sense of humor with a wry congenial smile. I’ve never forgotten his hilarious comment at me during a little league baseball game, co-coached with the legendary Beaver Bard: “ Lippy, what the heck are doing staring at the sunset while a baseball hit blazes by you!””Pay attention!!!” And he would forever remind me of that time even 50 years later…To all the family…my sincere condolences, and how wonderful to share your lives with Dubber…Just a great great guy..Gone but never forgotten…Rest in Peace…

Dubber coached me with the saints. He was a great coach and an even greater person. Saw him a few years ago at doctors office and remembered, we had a nice chat. The world lost a very good man and human being

My deepest condolences on your loss. Dubber was a great friend and athlete. Played with and against him when I was very young at the Turner Hall. One of the best passers I ever played against. He helped me out on several occasions with plumbing issues and installing a carpet. He and Elenore were always at get togethers at my mother Pat and Charlie house. We had left a void in our hearts but the memories will always be there.
