Berkshire Idol 2014 is Here!

2014 Fundraiser Recipient Chosen

Berkshire Idol, established in 2006, is a county-wide fundraising event that donates proceeds to local not- for- profit organizations that support and enhance our community at large. This years' recipient for the annual popular singing contest is Minerva Arts Center, to support their current “Build the MAC” project located in Williamstown.

The Minerva Arts Center is a 501(c)3 established in December 2010 and most recently operated in the former Incarnation Church on Massachusetts Avenue in North Adams for 18 months. Successfully staging 14 community productions, 5 concerts, and full summer workshops for youth, the MAC had tremendous support and a unique following until zoning restrictions made that location not viable. Minerva Arts Center’s mission is to promote the importance of an arts-based education by providing high quality arts programming, to inspire creativity in our community, and to offer opportunities for students and adults of all ages to realize their true artistic potential. The MAC wishes to continue providing the community with an indoor and outdoor venue that will lend itself to educational and professional use in the arts and interpretive sciences including agriculture and access to the trail systems maintained by the Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation, as well as the planned bike path, and access to the Hoosac River. More info about the Minerva Arts Center and the “Build the MAC” project can be found at www.MinervaArtsCenter.org.

2014 Audition Information

Any non-professional vocalist who wishes to participate should prepare 16 bars of a song, to be sung a capella in a closed audition at one of the following locations: Saturday 2/8 1-3p @ the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts in Pittsfield; Saturday 2/8 4-6p @ the Berkshire South Regional Community Center in Great Barrington; or Sunday 2/9 11-2p @ All Saints Episcopal Church in North Adams. More information about auditions can be found here. Contestants will then have three months to prepare two songs for the Finale Festival May 2-4.

New Finale Format for 2014

The Berkshire Idol 2014 Finale has been expanded into a Finale Festival to meet the ever-growing popularity of the event. Since 2006, Berkshire Idol has experienced an increase in community participation including contestants, pledgors, and audience members each year! This year the Finale Festival will take place May 2-4, on the main stage at Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield. Contestants will attend a sound check and VIP reception on Friday evening as a precursor to the Semi Finals on Saturday. Sunday will be the grand finale, followed by a post show reception with the Judges Panel at Spice in downtown Pittsfield.
