ADAMS, Mass. — A suspect in a New York shooting was arrested Thursday in a Howland Avenue apartment.
According to media reports, U.S. Marshals from Springfield and New York arrested Jovan Bailey, 29, with the help of Adams Police and state police.
Bailey is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and second degree assault and is expected to appear in Berkshire Superior Court. He is wanted in the shooting of a Long Island, N.Y., man in January and will be returned to Suffolk County, N.Y., to answer charges.
According to Dave Milne from the U.S. Marshals Service in Springfield, the New York and New Jersey fugitive task force were searching for 29-year-old Jovan Bailey, who was accused of shooting an unidentified man in Long Island, New York back in January of 2017.
U.S. Marshals in New York were apparently tipped off that Baily was in Adams, where he was staying with two other people. According to news reports, Bailey was asleep when Marshals entered the apartment and thought he was being arrested for unpaid traffic tickets.

Albert Dumont, 46, of Great Barrington had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on four counts of rape of a child with force, and single counts of dissemination harmful matter to a minor, and intimidation of a witness.
He was released on personal recognizance. Dumont is accused of sexually assaulting a girl who is now age 11 in Lee between September 12, 2012 and April 1, 2016.
Brandon Green, 24, of Pittsfield had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on single counts of armed career felon, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, and failure to stop for a police officer.
He was released on $15,000 bail. The charges stem from a motor vehicle stop in Pittsfield on January 10, 2017.

Marcus James, 34, of Pittsfield pleaded guilty to single counts of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and conspiracy to violate drug laws.
He was ordered to serve concurrent two and a half to four years at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction. The charges stem from the execution of a search warrant on Burbank Street in Pittsfield on April 14, 2016.
Chelsey Jan Roy, 28, of Pittsfield had a not guilty plea entered on her behalf on single counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, assault and battery upon a child with injury, and assault and battery upon a child.
She was released on personal recognizance. The alleged incidents occurred in North Adams between September 1, 2014 and October 5, 2015 and involved a child who was 11 months old.

John Squires III, 22, of Dalton pleaded guilty to single counts of unarmed robbery, and larceny from a building.
He was given a two-year suspended sentence at the Berkshire County House of Correction on the larceny charge and placed on two-year probation on the other charge.
Squires robbed the Shell Gas Station in Dalton on July 19, 2015. Single counts of stealing by confining and intimidation of a witness were dismissed by the state.
Stephen Stanley, 32, of North Adams pleaded guilty to three counts of breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony, two counts of larceny over $250, and a single count of larceny under $250.
He was ordered to serve concurrent two to two and a half years at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on all charges except for the larceny under $250. He was given a concurrent one-year sentence at the Berkshire County House of Correction on that charge.
The charges stem from housebreaks in North Adams between August 21, 2016 and August 23, 2016.

Jay Deeley, 50, of North Adams pleaded guilty to a single count of larceny from a person.
He was ordered to serve 18 months of a two and a half year sentence at the Berkshire County House of Correction. He was placed on one-year probation.
Deeley took money from a clerk at Xtra Mart in North Adams on January 1, 2016.

Mark Linder Jr., 23, of North Adams had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on single counts of possession of heroin with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws, and possession of cocaine.
He was released on $1,000 bail. The charges stem from a motor vehicle stop in North Adams on October 4, 2016.
Gavin Mahar, 24, of North Adams pleaded guilty to single counts of possession of heroin with intent to distribute, and conspiracy to violate drug laws in connection with a motor vehicle stop in North Adams on May 6, 2016. He pleaded guilty to single counts of possession of heroin with intent to distribute, and conspiracy to violate drugs laws in connection with a motor vehicle stop in North Adams on June 27, 2016.
Mahar was ordered to serve concurrent one-day sentences at the Berkshire County House of Correction on the May 6 charges. He was given concurrent two to two and a half years at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on the June 27 charges.

Damien Armstrong, 18, of Pittsfield had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on single counts of home invasion, and assault in a dwelling house with a dangerous weapon.
He was released on $5,000 bail. Armstrong is accused of breaking into a house on Onota Street in Pittsfield on December 16, 2016 and assaulting a 27-year-old man inside.

Riley Nolan, 22, of Clarksburg had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on single counts of possession of heroin with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws, possession of cocaine, and possession of diazepam.
He was released on $500 bail. The charges stem from a motor vehicle stop in North Adams on October 5, 2016.
ADAMS, Mass. — At least a half-dozen people have lost everything after a fire ravaged a three-apartment home on Old Columbia Street early Saturday morning.
Fire Chief Paul Goyette said some 45 firefighters from four towns battled the blaze for nearly five hours before it was finally extinguished.
"We probably flowed about 150,000 gallons of water," he said later Saturday morning as a backhoe tore down the blackened two-story structure. No was injured, but the tenants lost everything, Goyette said.
The fire was a reported at about 2:07 a.m. as a smell smoke of smoke in a bathroom. When Adams Police arrived at the scene, the flames were already coming from the windows on the first and second stories on the south side of the building. The wood-frame structure is tucked in slightly behind another home and a small outbuilding off Old Columbia, and near the end of Stevens Street, off Newark.
"The fire had a good hold of the building at that time," Goyette said. "We tried an interior tack, had a little bit of knockdown of the fire then it just became untenable. We pulled out and went all defensive."
North Adams, Cheshire and Clarksburg firefighters aided Adams; North Adams Ambulance Service provided its rehab trailer and Adams Police and Adams Ambulance Service also responded.
The state fire marshal's office had a representative at the scene earlier in the morning. Goyette said he was listing it as non-suspicious, but undetermined as to cause because of the amount of damage.
The American Red Cross had also responded to provide the six or seven occupants with aid. All of them had been out of the building by the time firefighters arrived, Goyette said.
Unfortunately, it appears several pets were killed in the fire.
The building contained 335, 337 and 339 Old Columbia St. addresses. The structure was lathe and plaster, probably balloon structure, and built about 1879. Town documents list the owner as Joseph Garceau.
"After the fire was out, it was deemed by the building inspector that the building was too unsafe and it had to come down," said Goyette.

Kareem King, 22, of Pittsfield had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, three counts of improper storage of a firearm, three counts of illegal ownership of a firearm, two counts of conspiracy to violate drug laws, and single counts of possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a large capacity firearm, improper storage of a large capacity firearm, illegal possession of a large capacity weapon, and possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card.

Richard Smith, 26, of Pittsfield pleaded guilty to single counts of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws, and possession of heroin.
He was ordered to serve concurrent two and a half years at the Berkshire County House of Correction on the possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate drug laws charges. He was given concurrent two years at the Berkshire County House of Correction on the heroin charge.
The charges stem from the execution of a search warrant at his Fenn Street home on January 5, 2016. Single counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, armed career felon, possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, illegal ownership of a firearm, improper storage of a firearm, and possession of a stun gun were dismissed by the state.

Rafael Lopez-Espinoza, 41, of Southfield had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf on six counts of indecent assault and battery on a child, four counts of intimidation of a witness, three counts of rape of a child with force, two counts of assault and battery, and a single count of cruelty to animals.
He was ordered to be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction on $35,000 bail. The incident allegedly occurred in New Marlborough between June 19, 2014 and December 30, 2016 and involved a girl who is now 11 years old.
