Elderly Man Pleads Guilty To Raping Child

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — A 72-year-old Becket man was sentenced to seven years in state prison after pleading guilty to raping a six-year-old.

Charles Mindle Jr. pleaded guilty in Berkshire Superior Court to three counts of rape of a child: with force, three counts of indecent assault and battery on a child and dissemination of harmful matter to a minor.

The incidents involved a girl, who is now 12-years-old, between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2008 in Becket.

Mindle was sentenced to concurrent five to seven years in state prison at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction on all counts except for the dissemination of harmful matter charge. Mindle was given four to five year prison sentence on that charge.

One count of rape of a child: with force was dismissed by the state.
