Remnants of the burned Dragon House.
SAVOY, Mass. — The Dragon House, a local landmark burned down over the weekend

The odd-shaped building topped with a dragon head chimney was the home of the late Roger Davis, also known as Witch Vortex, a noted recluse, teacher and handyman. Davis' wooden statues of deities were featured in 2007 in Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art's "The Believers" exhibition.

Davis, who died in January at age 74, had constructed the buildings and grounds over 20 years but reportedly had not lived there in several years. There was no electricity or modern conveniences on the property.

Savoy Fire Department was assisted by a number of local fire departments in putting out the blaze. A call to the department on Monday was not immediately returned.
