Reception for North Adams Author

12:00AM / Wednesday, April 20, 2005

City author Philomene Rivard and her grandson and "muse" Jordan Todd
North Adams – A reception featuring local author Philomene Rivard is scheduled for April 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Veteran’s Of Foreign Wars Post 996 on Union Street.

Rivard will be signing copies of her self-published poetry anthology “Walk With Me,” a 65-page collection of writings focused on her role as a custodial grandmother and as a daughter coping with a mother’s failing health.

The evening’s agenda includes a reading of original poetry by city resident Francis “Gotsy” Gardzina. The free event includes musical entertainment, refreshments, and door prizes, Rivard said.

Rivard lives on Apache Drive and is employed at the Monument Square Child Care Center. The book was printed in February and has sold over 100 copies.

Copies of “Walk With Me” are available for purchase at the Twice as Nice store, Park Street, Adams, and the city-based McClelland’s Gifts shop at 85 Main St., Snips hair salon, 103 Main St., Papyri Books, 49 Main St., Rentway, 233 State Road, and the Legacy shop on Holden Street.

Information about the reception may be acquired by calling Rivard at 413-664-4261.
