One Hurt in City Car Crash

12:00AM / Tuesday, October 04, 2005

North Adams – An Oct. 4 one-car crash that occurred on Veteran’s Memorial Drive is under investigation, according to city police.

James L. May, 66, of Moore’s Road, Florida, was driving a 1999 Ford vehicle westbound at about 12:26 p.m. when the vehicle entered the Veteran’s Memorial Drive/Holden Street intersection, passed through the busy junction, and then veered to the eastbound traffic lane.

The vehicle struck a bridge abutment in that lane, police said.

May was taken to the North Adams Regional Hospital by the North Adams Ambulance Service after the crash. No further information was available about May’s condition.

The Ford sustained significant front-end damage, police said.

Police said that whether charges will be filed will be determined once an investigation into the accident is completed.
