Halloween Treats

12:00AM / Monday, October 31, 2005

Volunteers from Brayton Hill invite the public to a free tour of their Haunted House on October 31 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Those brave enough to take the tour should find their way to the door of 113 Barbour Street, North Adams, where the Giant Pumpkin will guide them to their FINAL DESTINATION!!

Strobe lights will flash and fog machines will fill the air, so make sure your health conditions won’t make the tour TOO DANGEROUS FOR YOUR HEALTH!!

Local volunteers — both adults and children — are donating their prime trick-or-treat hours to make this community event a terrifying success. For more information contact Misha Amaral at 663-8241.

Area Trick-or-Treat Hours

In case you weren’t sure, the North Adams Trick-or-Treat hours for this evening are from 5:30 – 7:00 PM.

Other area communities, such as Cheshire and Adams are also posting 5:30 – 7:00 PM as their Halloween hours. Clarksburg Trick-or-Treating will be held this evening from 5:00 – 7:00 PM., and Florida from 5:30 – 8:30. Williamstown hours are 6:00 – 7:30 PM. The Williamstown PD will be distributing goodies from 5:00 – 7:30 PM on the Corner of Cole Avenue and Front Street. Residents who are participating should make sure to leave an outside light burning.

Mystery Writing Discussion

The North Adams Public Library is happy to announce, “It’s a Mystery to Me,” a mystery author discussion with Ellen Perry Berkeley and Nancy Means Wright, on November 1 at 4:00 PM.

Advance registration is requested.

Berkeley is the author of numerous nonfiction books including "At Grandmother’s Table." Wright is the author of eleven books, five of which are mysteries featuring Ruth Willmarth, Vermont farmer/sleuth. Her latest in the series is "Mad Cow Nightmare."

“It’s a Mystery to Me” will offer information about how the authors get the inspiration for their stories. In addition, the authors will discuss the writing process. There will be a question and answer period at the end of the program. Berkeley and Wright will offer their titles for sale and signing. To register or for more information call the library at 662-3133.
