Robert E. Smith, 80
HANCOCK, Mass. — Robert E. Smith, 80, a longtime resident of Hancock, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, surrounded by family, at the home of his daughter, Cathy Morse, in Whitingham, Vt.Born in Williamstown on Dec. 4, 1933, son of Truman and Florence Goodermote Smith, he graduated from the former Williamstown High School.
He was a Navy veteran.
Mr. Smith was the owner and operator of Robert E. Smith Trucking Co..
His wife, the former Donna Lee Towslee, whom he married Jan. 24, 1959, in Richmond, N.H., died Oct. 25, 2001.
Besides his daughter, he leaves three sons, Jeffery Smith of Irasburg, Vt., and Scott Smith and James Smith, both of Stamford, Vt.; two sisters, Frances Williams of Williamstown and Esther DeMayo of Trumbull, Conn.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Private graveside services will take place in the family plot in Hancock Cemetery. There are will be no calling hours.
