Edward O. Hartwig, 91
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Edward Osborn Hartwig, 91, of 756 South Church St. died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, at North Adams Commons.Born in Adams on Feb. 15, 1923, son of Rheinhold and Laura Charbonneau Hartwig, he attended local schools.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in Europe with a tank destroyer.
Mr. Hartwig was the owner and operator of Ed Hartwig's Service Station for many years.
He enjoyed playing cribbage.
His first wife, the former Angela Ordyna, and his wife, the former Lillian DiFazio Stachelek, predeceased him.
He leaves a daughter, Shirley Fachini of Savoy; a son, Daniel Hartwig of Savoy; a brother, Earl Hartwig of North Adams; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a stepson, Joseph Stachelek, and his brothers Henry Hartwig, John A. Hartwig Jr. and Ronald Hartwig.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Hartwig will be Saturday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial will be private.
A calling hour will be held Saturday morning from 10 to 11.
