Enrico F. Gaspardi, 85
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Enrico Francesco Gaspardi, 85, of 667 East Main St. died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, surrounded by his family.Born in North Adams on July 13, 1929, son of John Battista and Josephina Segala Gaspardi, he attended local schools.
An Army veteran, Mr. Gaspardi served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant major after more than 20 years of service. He later was employed at R.I. Baker Co. in Clarksburg and lastly by the former W.R. Grace in Adams until his retirement.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5144 in Clarksburg and Frank R. Stiles American Legion Post 125. He was recognized by the city of North Adams for his efforts to add six flags representing all branches of service and veterans to the city's Veterans Memorial, which was dedicated on Nov. 11, 2011. He enjoyed gardening and working on cars.
He and his wife, the former Elaine Chilson, were married on Jan. 7, 1950.
Besides his wife of 64 years, he leaves a daughter, Dianne Poette of North Adams; three sons, Michael Gaspardi of North Adams, Charles Gaspardi of Dartmouth and Kevin Gaspardi of Freeport, Maine; seven grandchildren, Rian Gaspardi, Joseph Gaspardi, Anthony Gaspardi, Marlaina Trepanier, Gabriella Gaspardi, Candace O'Connell and Carrie Croshier; four great-grandchildren, Temperance, Henry, Dylan and Gracie, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his siblings Catherine Gaspardi, Mary Barbeau, John Gaspardi, Frank Gaspardi and Louis Gaspardi.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Gaspardi will be Saturday, Nov. 22, at 9:30 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday, Nov. 21, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to any veteran's organization of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
Mr. Gaspardi's family wants to the thank the staff at BMC and all the relatives and friends for their care and support during his final days.
