Henry A. Cyr, 77
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Henry A. Cyr, 77, of College Avenue died after a long illness on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at his home surrounded by family.Born in Cohoes, N.Y., on July 3, 1937, a son of Leon and Rose Fecteau Cyr, he attended schools in North Adams.
He served in the Massachusetts National Guard.
Mr. Cyr was employed by Williams College's Buildings and Grounds Department. Prior to that, he had worked at McCann Technical School in the maintenance department for several years.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles and playing poker. He loved maintaining his cars, enjoyed golf, rooting for the Red Sox and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
He and his wife, the former Yolande Bedard, were married on Aug. 24, 1957, in Sainte-Helene-de-Bagot, Quebec.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Helen Boyle and her husband, James, of Boston; a brother, Rene Cyr and his wife, Diane, of North Adams; a sister, Theresa St. Pierre of North Adams, and two grandchildren, Jessica Harris and her husband, Mitchell, of Norwood and Alyson Boyle of Boston.
He was predeceased by his sister Laurette St. Pierre and his brother Leo "Spike" Cyr.
FUNERAL NOTICE - A liturgy of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Mr. Cyr will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 26, at 11 from St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Sunday, Jan. 25, from 2 to 5 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Donations may be made to Berkshire VNA & Hospice or the St. Patrick's Food Pantry through the funeral home.
