Under the auspices of the Memory Clinic in Bennington, Vt., Mrs. Harvey was the subject of three drug trials for Alzheimer's disease. Because of her excellent response to one of the experimental drugs, she was prominently featured in a special edition of the former Newsweek magazine in summer 2005.

She leaves her two sons, George Robinson Harvey and his wife, C. Victoria, of Essex and Capt. William Lee Harvey of Boothbay, Maine; two grandchildren, Aaron Lee Harvey of Pacific Palisades, Calif., and Abbigail Lee Mackenzie and her husband, Alec, of Freeport, Maine.

My prayers are with the family at this tragic time. Betty was a great gal, worked with her at the Wmst. Elementary School for a number of years as well as she and Harvey were volunteers at the Tourist Booth with my husband and myself. Great people.
