Rose Cariddi, 92
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Rose Cariddi, 92, of 85 Eagle St., St. Joseph's Court, died on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.Born in Hancock, Mich., on July 21, 1922, a daughter of Giovanni and Terese Bertilacchi Lorenzetti, she attended schools there and graduated from Hancock High School with the class of 1940. She moved to North Adams after her marriage to her husband, Joseph John Cariddi, on Thanksgiving Day in 1945.
Mrs. Cariddi was employed by the North Adams School System at Drury High School and many of the other public schools in the city as an assistant in the cafeteria, until retiring in 1986. She also had worked for several years at North Adams State College.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and was known for her crocheted afghans and Christmas stockings. She was also known for her volunteer service to Northern Berkshire County Meals on Wheels and, with her husband, at the annual "Be My Guest" Christmas Dinner at the North Adams American Legion.
Besides her husband of nearly 70 years, she leaves three sons, Frank "Fran" Cariddi of North Adams, John Cariddi of Greenfield and Mark Cariddi of Merrimack, N.H.; a daughter, Terese Cariddi McDermott of Stowe; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Cariddi will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams on Saturday, June 20, at 10 a.m.
A calling hour will be held Saturday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church; the "Be Our Guest" American Legion Christmas Dinner fund or to Northern Berkshire Elder Services.
