Donald F. Trombley, 74
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Donald Frederick Trombley, 74, longtime North Adams firefighter, died peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at his home in Elk Grove, Calif. Born in Mooers Forks, N.Y., on Feb. 7, 1941, a son of Frederick and Eva Brassard Trombley, he attended Drury High School.
A proud veteran of the Air Force, he served for four years and was stationed in Ramstein, Germany.
Mr. Trombely was employed as a firefighter for the city for more than 15 years.
While in North Adams, he was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church. After his retirement, he moved to Zephyrhills, Fla., where he enjoyed playing golf and bingo.
He leaves his wife, the former Dorrie Price; three sons, Jeffery Trombley of Adams, Daniel Trombley of Williamstown and John Trombley of Cheshire; three sisters, Gloria DiGrigoli, Veleda Boucher and Theresa Maino; five grandsons, Nicholas, Zachary, Luc, Jackson and Matthew; a great-granddaughter, Hadley Trombley; stepchildren, stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his former wife, Rhea Lewis of North Adams.
He was predeceased by his wives Dorothy Trombley and Stella Stanley Trombley, in 2011; grandson Kevin Trombley and granddaughter Jennifer Trombley.
FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Mr. Trombley will be held Tuesday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. Burial with full military and firefighter honors will follow in the Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 on Monday, June 29, at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare of the Berkshires or North Adams Firefighters Local 1781 through the funeral home.
