Dorothy M. Wicksman, 95

GEORGES MILLS, N.H. — Dorothy May (Sarmiento) Wicksman, 95, died Sunday, January 15, 2017, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Holderness, N.H.



Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on July 17, 1921 the daughter of Gladys (Munson) and Harold Sarmiento, she graduated from Jamaica High School and Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing in 1942.



Dorothy married Dr. Robert Wicksman on March 12, 1945.  They lived and worked in Williamstown, Mass., from 1949 until 1994 when they moved to New London, N.H. They celebrated 51 years of marriage before Dr. Wicksman died in 1996.



She is predeceased by her brother, Ramon Sarmiento.



Dorothy is survived by two sons and their wives, Steven and Margaret Wicksman of Putnam Valley, N.Y., and Dr. Roger and Lori Wicksman of Holderness, N.H.; two grandchildren, Nathan and Sarah; two step-grandchildren, Amy and her husband, Jim Crowley, and their children, Jack and Sam, and Leeann and her husband, Billy Gudzinowicz, and their son, Stephen.



Dorothy and Robert were active members of First Congregational Church during the many years they lived in Williamstown and members of Kearsarge Community Presbyterian Church in New London. Dorothy served as a deacon in both churches.



Funeral notice: A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Kearsarge Community Presbyterian Church, 82 King Hill Road, New London, N.H. Burial will be in Williamstown at a later date.
