George G. Cronk, 87

SHEFFIELD, Mass. — George G. "Busie" Cronk, 87, a longtime resident of Polikoff Road, Ashley Falls, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington.



Born in New Marlborough on Oct. 22, 1929, the son of Samuel and May Pruyn Cronk, he graduated from local schools.



He enlisted in the Army on May 17, 1951. He served in Korea and received the Korean Service Medal with three bronze service stars and the U.N. Service Medal before being honorably discharged on April 30, 1953.



Mr. Cronk, or Busie as he was referred to by most, was a great storyteller. He also enjoyed building and woodworking and was quite a handyman. A jack of all trades, he worked in both the automotive industry as well as the lumber business. He worked in hotels, was a night auditor and he also drove local taxis.



He leaves many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.



FUNERAL NOTICE: In accordance with his wishes, there will be a private burial with military honors in Ashley Falls Cemetery at a later date.
