
Viola Louise Galli October 14, 2003
Viola Louise Galli, 81, of 212 Eagle St. died Tuesday at the Williamstown Commons, where she had been admitted Dec. 2, 2002.
Born in North Adams on Jan. 15, 1922, daughter of Myron and Mary Perrault Benjamin, she attended schools in North Adams and Pownal, Vt.
During World War II, Mrs. Galli assisted the war efforts by working as a welder in the shipyards in Texas. She then was employed for several years by the former Nancy Shoe Co. in Hoosick Falls, N.Y.
For most of her life, she was a domestic and a private home health care provider for several families in Northern Berkshire County.
Mrs. Galli was a member of the First Baptist Church and also attended the Jesus Saves Tabernacle.
She enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Her former husband, Lino Galli, died July 11, 1995.
She leaves four daughters, Dorothy Bump of Pownal, Linda Bell and Christina Martelle, both of North Adams, and Susan Baker of Amherst; three sons, James Galli and Lino Galli Jr., both of North Adams, and Raymond Galli of Williamstown; 17 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Thomas Galli in 1972 and Jonny Galli in 1942, and a daughter, Tina Galli, who died in infancy.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Private funeral services for Viola L. (Benjamin) Galli will take place Friday at 9 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for the charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.
She was predeceased by two sons, Thomas and Jonny Galli; a daughter, Tina Galli; three sisters, Hazel Goddard, Anna May Grande and Helen Adams; a brother, Robert Benjamin, and a half-brother, Dewey Davis.
