Irene Kittler, 92, formerly of 19 West Road, died Monday at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown. Born in North Adams on Oct. 22, 1914, daughter of Wilfred and Isabelle Bourdon Paquette, she was raised by her father and stepmother, Irene Durocher, after her mother died of childbirth complications. She attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School, where she was active in sports, in 1934. Mrs. Kittler was employed by the former Arnold Print Works until her marriage. She and her husband built a home on West Road, where they were known for their gardening and famous Kittlers' corn. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas in Adams and devoted to her church, donating many of her canned fruits and vegetables and baked goods for the annual Notre Dame Bazaar. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and baking, and was a member of the Lafayette Girls' Team of L'Union of St. Jean Baptist and Le Cercle Français. Her husband, Arnold George Kittler, whom she married Oct. 1, 1938, died Nov. 18, 2002. Mrs. Kittler leaves a son, Robert Kittler of Pittsfield; a brother, Wilfred Paquette of Pittsfield; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Irene Kittler, who died Monday, May 28, 2007, will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Notre Dame Church in Adams at noon. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. till the time of service. Donations in her memory can be made to the Sweet Brook Care Center Alzheimer's unit through the funeral home. She also leaves a daughter-in-law, Joanne; a granddaughter, Erica King and her husband, Paul; a grandson, R. Derrick I. Kittler and his wife, Brittany; four great-grandchildren, Kolby, Kierin and Kali Kittler and Alexander P. King; a brother-in-law, Ernest Kittler and his wife, Edith; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by one sister, Jeanne Counter.
