Doris E. Rocca, 84

November 07, 2017

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Doris E. Rocca, 84, of 25 Marco Drive passed away November 7, 2017, peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a short illness.

Born on June 28, 1933 in Pittsfield, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Kinney Flynn. A longtime Pittsfield resident, she had lived in Arlington, Va., for four years while her husband served in the Air Force before moving to Pittsfield to raise their children. She was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1951 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She was employed for twenty-five years for the Pittsfield Housing Authority as a housing manager. She retired in 1991.

She was a communicant of St. Charles Church. Doris, fondly called "Do" or "DoDo" was loved by everyone that came in contact with her. Her bright and infectious smile and sense of humor made her a joy to be around. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She leaves her husband, William "Willy" Rocca of Pittsfield, whom she married on November 15, 1952 in Pittsfield. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary next week. She also leaves a daughter, Lori M. Borelli and her husband Paul of Pittsfield; two sons, Steven M. Rocca of Pittsfield and Timothy J. Rocca and his wife Jennifer of Pittsfield; 12 loving grandchildren, Krystle Rocca, Shawn Rocca, Shane Rocca, Nicole Rocca, Cole Rocca, Zachary Rocca, Joshua Rocca, Gianna Rocca, Lucas Rocca, Carly Borelli, Kristen Borelli and Kaylee Dondi; two great-grandchildren, Kiara and Norah; and her two longtime friends, Anthony and Delores “Dolly” Sacchetti of Pittsfield.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Jennifer Rocca; and by a son, the late Gary W. Rocca. She was also predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Caccamo and her husband Alfred; and by her two brothers; Charles Flynn and Richard Flynn and his wife Katherine.

Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Doris E. Rocca of Pittsfield, who passed away November 7, 2017, will be held Saturday, November 11, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church in Pittsfield celebrated by the Rev. Michael Wood, administrator. Burial will be private.
