Joshua A. Sargent, 29

January 01, 2018

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Joshua Aron Sargent, 29, of North Adams, Mass., died Monday, January 1, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in North Adams, Mass., on September 26, 1988, son of Lisa Marie (Sargent) Harding and the late John E. Belanger. He attended Mount Anthony Union High School.

Joshua was last employed by Mingo's Restaurant and also worked for the City of North Adams Parks and Recreation Department for several years.  He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church.

Joshua enjoyed watching movies and trivia, and was an avid reader.  Joshua made a lasting impression on all those who were fortunate to have known him. This was mostly due to his kindness, loyalty, and unconditional love given to those he came in contact with. He will be missed by so many people,

Survivors include his mother, Lisa Marie Harding of North Adams; his sister, Jenna Harding of Pownal, Vt.; his maternal grandmother, Susan Sargent who loved and cared for Josh beyond measure; Jon Harvey of North Adams, whom he considered a grandfather and friend; several aunts and uncles, including Lori Mills, Laurie O’dell and Wayne Sargen; and cousins, including Trevor O'dell, Madison and Carson Mills. He also leaves his best friend, Seth Cable; and his Godparents, Lynn Cable Hillman and Mark and Pam Wilk.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, John G. Sargent Jr.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful nursing staff at the BMC infusion center. The family also would like to thank Pop-Cares and the AYJ foundation for all of their support.

Funeral notice: The memorial service for Joshua Sargent will be Friday, January 5, 2018, at 6 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main St., North Adams, Mass. Burial will be in the spring in Southview Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the funeral home.
