Ralph W. Underwood Jr., 90

March 05, 2018

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Ralph Walter Underwood Jr., 90, of North Adams, Mass., died Monday, March 5, 2018, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Mass.

He was born in North Adams, Mass., on March 9, 1927, a son of the late Ralph Walter and Evelyn Frances (Amadon) Underwood. He attended North Adams Trade School. He was the proprietor of Underwood’s Insulation Company and Business Management.

Mr. Underwood was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Adams. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid inventor. He was a longtime friend of the late Eugene Wein.

“Time, patience, willpower," were words to live by Ralph believed and regardless of his challenges he persevered with good humor and a positive outlook on life. "Junie" was always energized by ideas and finding a new and better way to get something done. To that end he was a great tinkerer and user of everyday items to accomplish that task.

He will be missed by all those who marveled at his kind spirit including his wonderful neighbors and especially by John-John and Roberta Sullivan, who loved him so much.

Funeral notice: A Graveside Service to celebrate the life of Ralph Underwood will be held at the Southview Cemetery at a later date. Flynn and Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, 74 Marshall Street, North Adams, Mass., is in charge of arrangements.
