| MCLA Women's Soccer player, junior forward Jess Tietgens |
Tietgens got off to a slow start in 2009 as she was held scoreless in her first two games. After breaking the all time scoring record at the college against Bard College, she would notch goals in 18 of the next nineteen games. She was also named to the All MASCAC first team in 2009.
A native of Stamford, Vermont (she attended Drury High School), she has rewritten the record books in her three seasons. In consecutive seasons, she has bested the school scoring records setting her new marks this season of 30 goals and 4 assists. As a junior she recorded both her 100th and 150th career points.
Her best efforts came when the Trailblazers needed her the most. In her last five games, four of which were in the postseason, Tietgens tallied nine of her teams eleven goals. She lead MCLA to their first ever appearance in the MASCAC Championships, leading them to the finals. The program was rewarded with their first ever ECAC tournament bid.
