Friday-Sunday: A Christmas Carol & Holiday Sing-Alongs
The Berkshire Community College Players present readings of A Christmas Carol plus holiday sing-alongs at 3 different Pittsfield locations this weekend. All proceeds from the show will benefit 9-month-old Maurice Alexander who has an inoperable brain tumor. All performances have a $5 suggested donation, but no one will be turned away. Don’t miss these very special community performances!

It’s indie & acoustic night at Rebel Sound Records featuring Ben Karis-Nix, Matt Anish, Jess Hume and Awkward Ending from Bristol. Don’t miss Larger Than Life 3D: The Dave Matthews Band concert film screening for one week only and shot in digital 3D, a format that essentially brings viewers onstage, giving them a stunning 360◦ view of each live performance. The performances include the Dave Matthews Band--the highest-grossing American act of all time, award winning artist Ben Harper and Relentless7, and internationally acclaimed gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello. You’ll be “visually surrounded, fully immersed” in the concert experience! Rated PG.

Saturday & Sunday: Gingerbread House Decorating Party @ Dottie’s
Dottie’s Coffee Lounge is once again hosting this wonderful holiday event. Bring up to 3 people together decorate a gingerbread house to take home and treasure. For $25 you’ll be provided with a pre-assembled gingerbread house on a white circular cardboard base with as much royal icing in all different colors as you need to create your masterpiece, plus a variety of other decorations, including pretzels, candies of all shapes sizes and colors, a variety of cereals, spiral and colored uncooked pastas, mini candy canes, coconut, and much more! Feel free to bring your own special accessories as well! They are also offering take-home kits: call for details.

Saturday: Art Openings: Storefront 12x12, Bagels Too, & BCC Art Gallery
The Storefront Artist Project’s annual 12x12 fundraiser features 12"x12" works of art donated by local and regional artists. For just $25 you will walk away with one of these great pieces at the Saturday evening showdown. Also on Saturday, don’t miss the early winter group show of Berkshire area artists, Luminosity at Bagels Too. The theme of this year's show is light, brightness and light-heartedness. Plus Berkshire Community College’s gallery at the Intermodal Transportation Center is opening an exhibit by Karylee Doubiago who creates quilts that are a mix of photography paints, dyes, threadwork and fabric manipulation.

Saturday & Sunday: The Nutcracker @ The Colonial Theatre
It’s that wonderful time of year again! The Albany Berkshire Ballet's Nutcracker, set to Tchaikovsky's magnificent score, is without a doubt ballet's most beloved family tradition. Set in the late 1800's, the ballet tells the story of a young girl named Clara and the magical dream she has one Christmas Eve. With choreography by Albany Berkshire Ballet’s founder, Madeline Cantarella Culpo, the professional company is joined by local area children from throughout the Northeast.

Saturday: Holiday Music @ The Berkshire Museum, The Athenaeum & BCC
This Saturday is the Festival of Trees Family Day at Berkshire Museum, featuring performances by the Blafield Children's Chorus and Adlersgate Bell Choir plus the opportunity to decorate your own gingerbread cookie. Complete the experience at 4:30 p.m. with the official lighting of the Museum tree on the front lawn. Also Saturday afternoon, Bing’s Strings, the Berkshire Music School Quartet and Carolina Carry’s Kindred Spirits girls choir perform at the Berkshire Athenaeum. And in the evening the BCC Jazz Ensemble, directed by Allen Livermore, will present a concert of works by two of the most important composers and band leaders in jazz history: Duke Ellington and Wayne Shorter.

Three great nightlife choices this Saturday night in downtown Pittsfield! Join local hard rock band Static Saturday night @ Flavours or attend Rebel Sounds for an evening of loud and fast punk: Nothing but Enemies from Boston, Dead Radio Rebels from Adams, Think Again and Jock BJ will be playing. Or flash back to the 1970s and get your disco on at Jae’s Spice with DJ BFG as he spins the retro disco beats that make you want to boogie-oogie-oogie. There’s no reason to stay home!

Sunday: Holiday concerts by the Eagles Band & Berkshire Lyric
Sunday afternoon choose between two lovely holiday concerts. The annual Eagles Band Holiday Concert (and bake sale!) at First United Methodist Church features great music and a visit from Santa, while at St. Stephen’s Church, Berkshire Lyric presents Angels & Shepherds ~ Music of the Season featuring the Berkshire Lyric Chorus and the Blafield Children’s Chorus. Joining as special guests will be the Pittsfield High School Chorus. The music will feature contemporary and ancient carols as well as a few popular Christmas standards with a chance for the audience to sing along at the end.
