Where to Celebrate New Year's 2010
![]() |
We've rounded up some of the hottest parties for celebrating on New Year's Eve. Some are free, some require advance tickets and others are pay-at-the-door for those who wait until the last minute. It is suggested to call as soon as possible if you're considering a party requiring reservations since such events often sell out fast.
If you're planning to indulge in alcohol in your revels, make sure you have a designated driver. Don't start the New Year off wrong. Drunken driving is a serious crime, and state police will be out in force. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 120 people died in alcohol-impaired vehicle crashes in Massachusetts in 2008.
Cumberland Farms will be offering free Farmhouse Blend coffee from 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 until 5 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2010, at all locations, with the exception of those with Dunkin' Donuts. This is the third year the convenience chain has provided a free cup of joe for New Year's.
"We encourage drivers to have fun and stay safe and alert this holiday season," said Ari Haseotes, president of Cumberland Farms. "Offering free coffee on New Year's Eve is one way for us to let our customers know we care about them."
