MCLA to Celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day

NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— The MCLA Athletics Department invites the public to join in its National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration on Saturday, Feb. 13 at the MCLA Campus Center Gym.

The free program, which begins registration at 8:30 a.m., is open to all girls in grades 3 through 8, and adult women. The program includes free clinics for girls in basketball, volleyball and soccer. For adult women, sessions will include fitness, volleyball and water aerobics.

MCLA staff, coaches and players will conduct the clinics.

In addition to the the clinics, there also will be an essay contest, lunch with players and coaches, and the opportunity to watch the MCLA women's basketball team play Framingham State College at 2 p.m.

SteepleCats Shut Out on Road

MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Four Vermont pitchers combined to strike out 11 and allow four hits Tuesday as the Mountaineers beat the North Adams SteepleCats, 11-0, in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.
 
Evan Meier, Bobby Stang, Tonny Woodie and Chris Diaz each had a hit for the SteepleCats, who used five pitchers in the loss.
 
North Adams (0-2) comes home Tuesday to host the Mystic Schooners at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field.
