Summer Program to Present Benefit Basketball Game

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Northern Berkshire Youth R.O.P.E.S. Summer Program will present a benefit basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 20, when the ROPES All-stars play the Harlem Rockets.

The basketball game, which begins at 7 p.m., will be held at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Campus Center Gym in North Adams. Tickets for adults are $10 in advance and $12 at the door; student and senior tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.

Tickets are available at the Adams, North Adams and Williamstown police departments, or call 413-664-4944 for more information. Tickets also will be available for sale on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 10 to 3 at Wal-Mart in North Adams. All tickets are general admission.

All proceeds will help provide a free summer camp to Northern Berkshire County children. There will be halftime activities for kids including tricks shots, games and prizes. A concession stand will be available.

MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Four Vermont pitchers combined to strike out 11 and allow four hits Tuesday as the Mountaineers beat the North Adams SteepleCats, 11-0, in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.
 
Evan Meier, Bobby Stang, Tonny Woodie and Chris Diaz each had a hit for the SteepleCats, who used five pitchers in the loss.
 
North Adams (0-2) comes home Tuesday to host the Mystic Schooners at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field.
