Betty L. Poirot, 85
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Betty Louise (Ogert) Poirot, 85, formerly of 455 Mohawk Trail, Drury, Mass., died on Monday, December 5, 2016, at Southport Nursing Center in Southport, N.C.
She was born in Williamstown, Mass., on October 26, 1931, the daughter of William and Nellie (Blake) Ogert. Betty graduated from Williamstown High School and was primarily a homemaker throughout her lifetime. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in North Adams, where she was a member of its “Church Mice” and “Coral Club” groups.
Earlier in her life, she was a master cake decorator, especially for wedding cakes, enjoyed playing the organ, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and loved to spend time with and bake cookies with her grandchildren. In recent years, she enjoyed painting her “masterpieces” and taking regular excursions to the waterfront and beach in Southport, NC with her children.
Betty was married to Milton Aaron Poirot on August 29, 1953, in Williamstown, MA. He died on August 13, 2015.
Betty leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and James Gregory of Oak Island, N.C., and her daughters Leila Pisano of Oak Island, N.C., and Lonnie Poirot of Chatham, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Ogert of North Scituate, R.I., and Francis Ogert; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a grandson, James Gregory Jr.; five sisters, Ruth Ogert, Dorothy Gove, Carol Smith, Eleanor Kemp and Helen Fisher; and five brothers, William, Kenneth, Whitman, Nelson, and Sydney.
Funeral notice: Graveside services for Betty Poirot will be held in the spring. Burial will be in Florida Church Cemetery, Florida, Mass. Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral-Montagna Home for Funerals is entrusted with arrangements.
