Thomas D. "Thom" Fenn, 55

DALTON, Mass. — Thomas D. "Thom" Fenn, 55, of 447 High Street passed away at home on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on April 21, 1961 in Pittsfield, Mass., he was a son of the late James D. and Lois Mayer Fenn. A lifelong Dalton resident, he was educated in Dalton schools and was a 1979 graduate of Wahconah Regional High School. After high school he proudly served his country in the United States Army as a military police officer and then with the United States Army National Guard for another eleven years.

He was a self-employed electrician for several years and had also worked for the former Wilson Electric of Dalton. Thom also served as a volunteer for many years with Dalton Community Television. He was a communicant of St. Agnes Church and a proud member of the Benjamin F. Sullivan American Legion Post #155 of Dalton where he served as a member of the Military Honors Team.

He enjoyed playing rugby and being outdoors. He was a longtime fan of all Boston sports teams. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

He leaves four daughters, Jennifer A. Fenn of Lanesborough, Mass., Caitlyn E. Fenn of Pittsfield, Rachael D. Fenn of Pittsfield and Alyvia Asta of Pittsfield; four brothers, James "Chip" Fenn of Dalton, Michael B. Fenn of Chesapeake, Va., John A. Fenn of Chesapeake, Va. and Paul W. Fenn of Belchertown, Mass.; four sisters, Diane Fenn-Snyder of Pittsfield, Judith C. Fenn of Chesapeake, Va., Frances M. "Sissy" Fenn of Pepperell, Mass., and Laura J. Fenn of Springfield, Mass.: four grandchildren, Alorah Fenn, Kalliyahna Fenn, Blake Choon and Javonte Williams; his companion; Nancy Krupowies of Tolland, Conn.; his former wife, Linda A. Fenn of Pittsfield; as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends, including his nephew Ryan Snyder of New Hampshire.

Thom's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone in the community who so generously supported him and his family at his recent benefit at the Dalton American Legion on January 8.

Funeral notice: At Thom's request, calling hours will be held Monday, January 23, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dery-Foley Funeral Home in Dalton. A graveside service with military honors will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Ashuelot Cemetery in Dalton conducted by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor of St. Agnes Church in Dalton.

Memorial contributions in memory of Thom may be made to the Dalton American Legion in care of the funeral home, 890 Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226.
