David A. Hawkins, 75
STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — David Allan Hawkins, 75, of Glendale Road died Monday, February 13, 2017.
Born February 27, 1941, in Glendale, Mass., in his childhood home, he was the son of Viriginia Hawkins and William Kenneth Hawkins. He graduated from the former Williams High School and joined the Air Force. After completing basic training David went on to travel overseas to England where he was stationed at Bentwaters Air Force Base near Woodbridge, Suffolk. It was while he was in Woodbridge that he met his wife of 55 years, Jacqueline. They married in Woodbridge at St. John’s Church across the street from her childhood home in July of 1961.
They returned to America in 1963 and settled back in David’s hometown of Glendale. It was then that he started working at Mead Specialty Paper in South Lee. He educated himself and climbed the ladder through the company. David retired from his position as Environmental Engineer 35 years later.
He is survived by his wife Jacqueline, son Christopher, daughter Brenda, son-in-law John and his grandson Hunter, brother Kevin, brother-in-law Maxwell, six nephews and seven nieces.
David was predeceased by his mother Virginia, father Kenneth, and brothers Norman and Gary.
Funeral notice: A service will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Lisanne Finston. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
