Herbert A. Johnson, 68

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Herbert A. Johnson of Williamstown died on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Baystate Medical Center. 

He was born in Stafford Springs, Conn., on November 24, 1948. He was a son of the late Gordon & Joan (Lamoureaux) Johnson. 

He attended schools in Hampden, Mass., and graduated from Minnechaug High School. He attended Springfield College for two years. He served in the US Navy for six years, last serving on the USS San Diego AFS #6. He self employed as a carpenter and was last employed as the Maintenance Manager for Willowood Nursing Home in Williamstown. 

He was a member of the American Legion in Bennington Post #13. He enjoyed target shooting. 

Survivors include his longtime companion with whom he resided, Alice Brown; his daughter Kelly Johnson of Florida; brother Scott Johnson of Holliday, Fla.; and sister Kim Johnson of Holyoke, Mass. 

He was predeceased by his brother Bruce Johnson. 

Funeral notice: Private funeral service to celebrate the life of Herbert A. Johnson will take place on Friday, February 24, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA 01247. 

Burial with military honors will follow in Southview Cemetery. Private calling hours are Friday from 9-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested for the American Cancer Society or the St. Jude Children's Hospital through the funeral home.
