David J. Biggart, 67
DALTON, Mass. — David Joseph Biggart, 67, of Pleasant Street, Dalton, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
He was born in Pittsfield on November 17, 1949, the son of Jean Cormier Biggart and the late William H. Biggart Jr. He was educated in Dalton schools and graduated from Wahconah High School.
David served in the United States Army from September 3, 1969 until his discharge on April 6, 1971. He served in the 23rd Infantry Division in Vietnam. He attained the rank of Sargeant and was awarded the Bronze Star, as well as the Purple Heart.
David was employed at Berkshire Custom Coating for ten years, retiring in 2007. He had previously worked at the former Eaton Paper for twenty-five years. He was a communicant of St. Agnes Church, a member of the Dalton American Legion; Past Commander and life-long member of the Dalton VFW. He enjoyed music, antique cars, and family gatherings
Besides his mother, Jean Biggart of Dalton, David is survived by his two daughters, Tami-Jo Saunders of Pickins, S.C., and Shannon J. Biggart of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, Joshua, Tanner, Shauna and Sophia; one great-grand-daughter, Isabele; his sister Donna L. and Robert DuCharme of Pittsfield; his life-long companion, Beth Mason of Dalton; his two nephews, Scott and Jason DuCharme; two great-nieces; and one great-nephew.
He was predeceased by his son, David J. Biggart Jr.; and his brother, William H. Biggart III.
Funeral notice: Funeral services with full military honors will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
