Lorraine Saunders, 89
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Mrs. Lorraine Marvis (Estes) Saunders, 89, of North Adams, died on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
She was born in North Adams on May 21, 1927, daughter of the late Walter and Evelina (Lanoue) Estes. She attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1945.
Mrs. Saunders last worked as a seamstress for the former Waverly Fabrics in Adams until retiring in 1989. Prior she had worked for the former Sprague Electric Co., North Adams, for 21 years. In her younger years she worked for the former J.J. Newberry's and the former Clark Biscuit Co., both North Adams.
She was a member of the Sprague Club and the Jollee Circle, North Adams.
Her husband, Arthur William Saunders, whom she married on February 6, 1946, died on December 11, 1988.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Nicol of Arizona, two grandchildren, Paul Nicol and his wife Shannon of North Adams and Sheri Pierce and her husband Gary of Clarksburg; five great-grandchildren, Jonathan, James and Jacob Pierce of Clarksburg and Caitlin and Ashlee Nicol of North Adams; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Walter Estes; a sister Priscilla "Pat" Nash; and two half-sisters, Rita Cirone and Frances Desautels.
Funeral notice: The funeral will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
