Eileen Nuttall, 104

CHESHIRE, Mass. — Eileen Wells Nuttall, 104, of 90 North Street in Cheshire, passed away at home on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on November 28, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Nina Hathaway Wells. A lifelong resident of Cheshire, she was educated in Cheshire and Adams schools and was a 1931 graduate of the former Adams High School. She also attended the New York School of Interior Design. She proudly served our country during World War II in the United States Army Women’s Air Corp 311 with the photo reconnaissance wing. 

She married her husband, the late Hollis J. Nuttall on February 25, 1950, at the First Baptist Church of Cheshire. He died on December 24, 1986. 

A homemaker, she was very active in the Cheshire community. She attended the First Baptist Church of Cheshire; she had been a member of the Ladies Reading Club since 1933 and was a founding member of the Cheshire Historical Commission and a member of the Adams Historical Society. She was also a member of the Stafford Chapter of Eastern Star of Cheshire and the Eastern Star Franklin Chapter #92 of Adams. 

She enjoyed antiques and all things historical, especially studying the history of Cheshire. 

She leaves two sons, Bruce W. Nuttall of Fort Collins, Colo., and Alan R. Nuttall and his companion Barbara Halek of Cheshire; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her three brothers; Ronald, Robert and John Wells; her sister; Barbara Wells; and her nephew, Douglas Wells. 

Funeral notice: Funeral services for Eileen W. Nuttall, 104, of Cheshire who passed away April 16, 2017, will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cheshire conducted by the Rev. Christopher Adorno, pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. 

Calling hours will be held Friday, April 21, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dery-Cheshire Funeral Home. Memorial donations in memory of Eileen may be made to the Cheshire Fire Department or to the First Baptist Church of Cheshire both in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 445, Cheshire, MA 01225.
