Charles Larson Sr., 83
LEE, Mass. — Charles Martin Larson Sr., 83, of Lee died peacefully Sunday evening, May 14, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Charles "Chuck" was born in Victoria, Hong Kong, on January 21, 1934, to the late Charles M. and Alice M. Seyer Larson. At age 9 the family moved to Waupaca, Wis., where he was raised and educated, graduating with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Mr. Larson proudly served in the U.S. Army and worked for Kimberly-Clark Corp. in Neenah, Wis., which eventually led to his family relocating to Lenox in 1976.
Chuck was known for his sense of humor, the ability to fix anything, his love of history, railroads, and motorcycles. He was a great storyteller, and had great affection for animals, especially his many dogs. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Chuck leaves behind his brother, William C. Larson of Atlanta; two sons, Charles M. Larson Jr. of Hinsdale and Matthew C. Larson (Francine) of Lee; three daughters, Lynn M. Larson (Mark Howson) of Ballston Lake, N.Y., Kathleen A. Taikowski of Orlando, Fla., and Karen M. Rufo (Richard) of Pittsfield; his first wife and mother of his children, Suzanne Jarvis of Lee; his grandchildren, Adam, Jayna, Richie, Matthew and Ellen; several nieces and nephews; his step-grandchildren, Lynnanne Brown and Kristen O’Brien; as well as six step-great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Mr. Larson was predeceased by his brother, Raymond M. Larson.
The family wishes to thank his devoted caregiver and good friend Sandra Russell for her kindness, compassion, and exceptional care.
Funeral notice: Visiting hours will be held Thursday, May 18, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Kelly Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make donations in his memory to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter, in care of Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
