John ‘Jack’ Fortier, 91

ADAMS, Mass. — Mr. John E. "Jack" Fortier, 91, of Adams died on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at his home. 

He was born in Adams on March 22, 1926, son of the late John and Amy (Frese) Fortier. He attended schools in Adams including the former Notre Dame School. 

Mr. Fortier worked for many years at G.E. Plastics in Pittsfield until his retirement in 1986. Earlier he had worked for various mills in Adams. 

He was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II, Adams. He was a former member of the Retired Men's Bowling League at the Adams Turn Hall. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his "Trike" motorcycle and flying model airplanes. His love was spending summer days at his second home on Windsor Pond in Windsor with his family. 

His wife, the former Norma Sauve, whom he married on March 2, 1946, died on October 30, 1993. 

He is survived by five sons, Craig Fortier and his wife Maria of Stratford, Conn., Jay Fortier and his wife Patricia of Washington, Mass., Mark Fortier and his wife Jean of Cheshire, Wayne Fortier and his wife Beth of Adams and Keath Fortier and his wife Dawn of Ghent, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren, William Fortier, Erica Capozzi, Jacqueline Steiner, Brian Fortier, Maryann Fortier, Kyle Fortier, Stacy Dellaghelfa, Kari Lyden-Davignon, Shauna Lyden-Fortier and Alyssa Fortier; seven great-grandchildren, Gavin, Julia, Hayden, Logan, Lucas, Jackson and Tessa; his sister Norma Klein of Adams; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by his grandson, Adam Fortier; three sisters, Evelyn Maslak, Ruth Hoellerich and Meta Gebrowski; and by two brothers, Ralph Fortier and Edmond "Buster" Fortier. 

Funeral notice: The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at 10 a.m. from the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, McKinley Square, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. 

Calling hours are Monday, May 22, 2017, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alert Hose Company, 3 Columbia St., Adams, MA 01220 or to the Adams Ambulance Service, 185 Columbia St., Adams, MA 01220.
