Dennis J. Williams Sr., 68

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Dennis J. Williams Sr., 68, of Pittsfield, died May 22, 2017, at Berkshire Medical Center after a brief illness. 

He was born in Pittsfield on March 28, 1949, the son of the late George E. and Mary J. (Connors) Williams. He was educated in Pittsfield public schools and attended Pittsfield High School. Dennis worked for more than 20 years as a laborer at General Electric before retirement. 

Dennis was one of the best amateur golfers in the area in the 70s and 80s. He played in and won many prestigious golf tournaments in Berkshire County, including the Little Brown Jug tournament, multiple times. Dennis also enjoyed playing pool. He was an avid fisherman, especially fly fishing and thoroughly enjoyed tying his own fly’s. He was also a passionate New York Yankees fan. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Dennis was also very particular about his hair; he was quite proud that he didn’t have any grey hair. 

He is survived by his daughter, Kelly T. Williams of Pittsfield, his son, Dennis J. Williams Jr. of Pittsfield, his granddaughters, Ciara M. Berkeley of Pittsfield and Katelynn M. Ruusukallio of Pittsfield; his grandson, Quinn D. Caesar-Williams of Dalton; his great-granddaughter, Aunnica G. Fowlkes of Pittsfield; his brothers, Edward M. Williams (Mickey) of Becket and John C. Williams and his wife Deborah of Pittsfield; his niece, Jenna Williams and her children of Dalton, Mass.; his nephews, Jason Williams of Pittsfield and John C. Williams Jr. of Washington, D.C., and many beloved cousins and friends who held a special place in his heart, especially those friends he spent time with at the Madison, Polish Community Club and American Legion. 

The Williams family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and nurses on 3 South at Berkshire Medical Center for their kindness and compassion at an extremely difficult time. 

Funeral notice: Calling hours for Dennis J. Williams Sr. of Pittsfield, who passed away on May 22, 2017, will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Burial will be private and will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Dennis may be made to the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
