Bruce A. Barney, 70
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Bruce Arthur Barney, 70, of Pensacola, Fla., died on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Northwest Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle, Wash., following a long, war-related illness.
He was born in Bridgeport, Conn., on March 3, 1947, a son of Violet Millicent (Clayton) Barney, and the late Clive Bruce Barney. He attended schools in Wyandanch, N.Y., where he graduated from Wyandanch Memorial High School in 1966.
He was a highly decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served in the U.S. Army. Over his military career he was awarded many decorations, medals, and badges for his service, most notably the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star.
Survivors include his wife, “Bay” Eun Hee of Pensacola, Fla.; his mother, Violet Barney of Ronkonkoma, N.Y.; two daughters, Kimberley Ann Barney of Seattle, Wash., and Leila Deumann of Lynwood, Wash.; two granddaughters, Violet and Noelle; three sisters, Brenda Gruzo of Ronkonkoma, N.Y., Maribeth Barney of Pittsfield, Mass., and Vicki Davila of Jamestown, N.Y.; a brother, Brian Barney of Bangkok, Thailand; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral notice: A funeral service to celebrate the life of Bruce Barney will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main St. North Adams, Mass. Burial will follow in the Monroe Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, June 23, 2017, from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to any American Legion or VFW of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
