Katherine M. Desormeaux, 67

FLORIDA, Mass. — Katherine Marie (LaFrance) Desormeaux, 67, of Florida, Mass., died Saturday, June 24, 2017, at her home.

She was born in Adams on October 9, 1949, a daughter of the late Raymond LaFrance, Sr. and Ruth (Dupee) LaFrance. She grew up in North Adams, and attended local schools, including Drury High School.

Katie worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for the former Adams Nursing Home and Willowood of North Adams, and finally at North Adams Commons, until retiring in 2007 due to ill health.

She enjoyed tag sales, collecting bear figurines, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Desormeaux, whom she married on July 9, 1969 at the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams; her three children, Kerry Arigoni and her husband, Anthony, of Florida, with whom she resided; Thomas Desormeaux and his wife, Tammy, of Florida; and Yvette Desormeaux of Adams; two brothers, Thomas LaFrance of Manchester, Conn., and Raymond LaFrance Jr. of Hermon, Neb.; a great aunt and great uncle, Bernice and Bernard LaPlante, of Adams; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Dennis LaFrance and Kerry LaFrance; by a sister, JoAnn Saltamartini; and by a niece, Barbara LaFrance.

Funeral notice: A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams. Burial will be held at a later date.

So sorry for your loss. I too like Barb grew up near the 5 roads and remember well that long,long hike up East Main St to get to the Dobbert's, Lapine's and LaFrances. Many happy memories but the one thing that stood out was her smile. She was always so happy go lucky. she will be missed.

Kate grew up across the street from ME and my sisters. We played every day and Wilde ball was always in the LaFrance front yard. Lots of good memories with her and if I can fine it we have a picture of her in a dress going to an eighth grade dance. Think of the good times.
