Emma Drew, 94

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — Emma Drew, 94, of Stockbridge died peacefully on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at her daughter's home in West Stockbridge.

Born in Sandwich on Feb. 20, 1923, daughter of Hugo and Hannah Persson, she was predeceased by her brother, Paul Persson. She was the wife of the late Lloyd Adams and later Roy Drew of Sandwich.

Her life included service in the Navy during World War II, and she earned several awards for outstanding service.

While raising three daughters she received degrees from Cape Cod Community College and Bridgewater State College, graduating with highest honors.

Mrs. Drew enjoyed the years she spent teaching kindergarten and first grade at the Henry T. Wing School in Sandwich.

She and her husband Roy spent many years traveling throughout the United States and between their homes on Cape Cod and Florida. After Roy passed, she relocated to the Berkshires.

An avid sewer and crafter, she enjoyed the years she spent as a member of the service league at First Congregational Church of Stockbridge and the many friends she made there.

She leaves her three daughters, Mildred Christensen (Paul) of Bridgewater, Marie Baron (Robert) of Morgan, Vt., and Stuart, Fla., and Marsha McMahon (Stephen) of West Stockbridge. In addition to her daughters, she is also survived by her sister, Anne Sturtevant of Lexington, S.C.; her stepdaughters Susan Ferrari of Jensen Beach, Fla., Carol Crimm of Minden, Nev., and Jane Small (David) of Plymouth, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE — At Mrs. Drew's request, there will be no service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

The family greatly appreciates the support provided by HospiceCare in the Berkshires and asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations go to them in her memory. Donations can be made directly to HospiceCare in the Berkshires Inc., 877 South St., Suite 1W, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
