Mary LaVersa, 94

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Mary Santa (Bruno) LaVersa, 94, of North Adams, Mass., died Saturday August 12, 2017, at Berkshire Medical Center.

She was born in North Adams, Mass., on March 1, 1923, daughter of Dominic "Charlie" Bruno and Rose (Pecoraro) Bruno. She attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School.

Mary worked at Hunter Outdoor Products and other places sewing but she was primarily a homemaker. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and was a member of its Rosary Society.  She enjoyed knitting and sewing.

She was the widow of Michael J. LaVersa Sr., who died on January 11, 2008. They were married on April 18, 1942.

Survivors include five sons, including Michael J. LaVersa Jr. of Raleigh, N.C., Dennis C. LaVersa of Hanson, Mass., Francis X. LaVersa of North Adams, Charles A. LaVersa of Plaistow, N.H., and James P. LaVersa of Raleigh, N.C. Her son, Mark P. "Harpo" LaVersa died July 25, 2010. She also leaves seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Two sisters are also deceased, including Nancy Janiga and Margaret Moulton.

Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mary LaVersa will be celebrated Friday August 18, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.

Calling hours are Thursday, August 17, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home.
