David Fay, 82

OTIS, Mass. — David W. Fay went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2017. He died at home surrounded by his loving family.

David was born on January 2, 1935, in Newton, Mass., to the late Joseph and Claire Fay. He grew up in Milford, Conn., and spent his summers and school vacations with his grandparents in Newton. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in West Haven, Conn., in 1953 and attended Dayton University for one year until enlisting in the United States Marin Corps in 1954, serving in Okinawa, Japan, until 1957. 

David married the former Karen Lynne Sheldon on June 27, 1959, at St. Agnes Church in Woodmont, Conn., with Fr. Edward Jaksina, officiating. 

Mr. Fay worked as a linotype operator for Payne and Lane in New Haven followed by factory and construction work. He also worked in maintenance at St. Bridgets Jr. High School in Cheshire and the Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford after he moved to Otis in 2000. He also worked part-time for Price Chopper in Lee.

David was a Eucharistic minister and was involved with the Knights of Columbus in Lee. Mr Fay was also active with the Shriners and St. Jude. 

Besides his wife, Karen Lynne, David leaves behind three children, Wendy (Brian), Terri (Rick) and Kristi; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his daughter-in-law Ann. 

Mr. Fay was predeceased by his son, David, in 2001.

Funeral notice: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, from 9 to 9:50 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Lee with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Brian McGrath, officiating. Burial will follow in Otis Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kelly Funeral Home.
