Mary Malonis, 87
STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — Mary Malonis, 87, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at home with her family after a valiant battle with cancer.
Mary was born July 29, 1930, in Lynn, Mass., to Mary Huggins and William Archer Huggins. Mary attended Lynn schools and graduated from Lynn English High School and Lynn Hospital School of Nursing with a RN degree.
She worked in and around Boston, earning her Nurse Anesthetist credentials until marrying Edward Malonis in 1960. Together they moved to Washington, D.C., where Ed attended Law School and then to Milan Italy with the State department. They returned to the states and settled in Westchester County, where they raised their family.
Mary worked as a substitute school nurse and in real estate until her retirement in 1999 when she and Ed moved to Popponesset Mass on Cape Cod. After her husband’s death, she moved to Stockbridge, Mass., with her family where she died.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Tracy Malonis Stephen and her husband Sean Stephen; her daughter-in-law Jamie Malonis; and five grandchildren, Jack, Charlie, Molly, Kate and Bridget, whom she adored.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Malonis; and her son Dr. John Malonis.
Funeral notice: Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 213 Main Street, Great Barrington, Mass., conducted by Rev. William P. Murphy, Pastor. Burial will follow at Stockbridge Town Cemetery.
