Frances Ordyna, 91

ADAMS, Mass. — Frances Ordyna, 91, of 43 Summer St., passed away peacefully Sunday evening, October 8, 2017, at the Mount Carmel Care Center in Lenox.

Born in Adams on April 28, 1926, daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Struzik Morawiec, she was a graduate of the former Adams High School with the class of 1944. She also was a graduate of the former Bliss Business College in North Adams, and the former Western Union Teletype College.

Her last place of employment was for the Adams Cheshire Regional School District, retiring in 1989. Prior to that she was employed for the former New England Telephone Co. and the former Western Union Office both in North Adams.

Frances was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Adams. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting, knitting, feeding her birds, and was also an avid bingo player.

Her husband, Casimer Ordyna, whom she married on August 2, 1947, died April of 2000.

She is survived by two sons, Lawrence Ordyna of Savoy and Michael Ordyna and his wife Shelley of Great Barrington; a sister, Ceil Ingrassia and her husband Joseph of New York; a brother-in-law, William Ragan and his wife Bernie of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Dennis Ordyna and his wife Sara and Christine Ordyna; a great-grandson, Quinn Ordyna; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Valerie Ordyna; two sisters, Monica LaRue and Helen Ragan; and two brothers, Paul and Casimer Morawiec.

Funeral notice: The funeral for Frances will take place Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 9 a.m. from the Trottier Pringle Funeral Home, 6 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church in Adams celebrated by the Rev. Steven G. Montesanti, Pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday, October 13, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations in her memory can be made to the Savoy Volunteer Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
