LEE, Mass. — Louis J. "Lou" DiGrigoli, 69, of Lee died unexpectedly Friday, October 13, 2017, at BayState Medical Center in Springfield.
Lou was born November 23, 1947, the son of the late Carmello and Josephine Termini DiGrigoli. He was raised and educated in Lee and was a 1965 graduate of Lee High School. Before Lou even finished high school, he began his long and accomplished business career starting with Lou's Pizza House when he was just 15 years old. Following the pizza business, Lou went to barber school and opened Richard Louis Hair Fashions followed by Marc Anthony Hair Fashions and then Professional Barbers. Taking a break from hair, Lou managed the Morgan House for Maria Cole in the 1970’s and then again returning to hair styling, opened the Hair Again salon. Founding Fox Homes in 1983, Lou entered the construction business, building homes, subdivisions and commercial buildings throughout Berkshire County.
Besides all of his business ventures, Lou was active in various community groups. He was responsible for starting up the Tee Ball in Lee, directed the very first Lee Sale-a-bration Days event which is now Lee Founders Weekend and sponsored the very first Lee High School house building program. He participated in the Lee Chamber of Commerce, awarding scholarships in his name.
In his spare time, Lou enjoyed golfing and was a member of Greenock Country Club and former member of Stockbridge Golf Club. He enjoyed wintering in Florida but most important to him was the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Lou leaves behind his wife, the former Joyce Soucie, whom he married September 9, 1967; two sons, Rick and Marc and his wife Julie, all of Lenox; a brother, Carmello DiGrigoli and his wife Gloria; four sisters, Rose Ballato, Theresa Corbitt, Kathy Hall and her husband William, and Patricia Belba; his cherished grandchildren, Maxwell James, Madison, Paige and Brady; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
