Felicia V. Clarke, 92

ADAMS, Mass. — Mrs. Felicia Victoria (Meczywor) Clarke, 92, of Adams died peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2017, at Mount Carmel Care Center in Lenox.

She was born in Adams on June 7, 1925, a daughter of the late Stanislaus and Helena (Szetela) Meczywor. She attended St. Stanislaus Elementary School and the former Adams High School. She left school early to go to work in the Berkshire Mills to help her family. She later went to work at the former Cornish Wire Co., Williamstown, and after the death of her husband William with the help and urging of relatives and friends, went to work in the Naval Ordnance division of General Electric Co., Pittsfield, as a wire inspector until retiring after 22 years in 1988.

She was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, and had been a member of the St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality. She loved sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, and was made dearer if they had Polish players such as "Yaz" and "The Gronk.” In her younger years she was an avid bowler in the women's league at the Adams Turn Hall. She loved going on long walks, taking trips and bus day excursions with her longtime companion Eddie Trela.

Her husband, William J. Clarke, died in 1965.

She is survived by her two sons, Michael Clarke and his wife Rita of Cheshire and Robert Clarke and his wife Carol of Henniker, N.H.; four grandchildren, Katie Clarke of Cheshire, Heather Griffin and her husband Adam of Marlboro, Mass., and William and Erin Clarke of Concord, N.H.’ as well as many nieces and nephews in both the United States and Poland.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Casimer, Thaddeus and Rev. Ladislaus Meczywor, MIC; and by two sisters, Jean Truskowski and Sophie Maluda.

Funeral notice: The funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at 9 a.m. from the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Adams.

Calling hours are Monday, October 23, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Stanislaus Kostka School, 108 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220 or to the Adams Council on Aging, 3 Hoosac St., Adams, MA 01220.
