Guido Libardoni, 92

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Guido Libardoni, 92, of North Adams, Mass., died Saturday, November 18, 2017, at North Adams Commons.

He was born in the Hoosac Tunnel section of Rowe, Mass., on January 26, 1925, son of Lodovico and Flavia (Bedini) Libardoni. He attended schools in Hoosac Tunnel and graduated from Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls in 1941.

Guido was a decorated veteran of World War II and served in the US Army in the Pacific Theater, receiving many medals and commendations, including the Purple Heart. After the war, he returned to North Adams and worked at Sprague Electric Co. for 40 years until his retirement in 1986.

He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Guido was a member of the American Legion Post #125 and VFW Post #996 in North Adams and was also a member of the Sprague Quarter Century Club, Sprague Retirees and Moose Lodge.

His first wife, Barbara (Bunting) Libardoni, died in 1966. His second wife, Vera Leah (Timothy) Davine Libardoni, died on December 2, 2011. They were married on January 7, 1972.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Bartlett of Virginia Beach, Va.; four stepchildren, including Michael T. Davine of Adams, Linda Jean Kosche of Grand Isle, Vt., Sally Lussier of North Oxford, Mass., and Kathy Carli of Cape Coral, Fla.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolina Abucevitch of Norwood; and nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.  

His son, Michael A. Libardoni, is deceased. 

Guido's family would like to thank the staff of Unit 2 at North Adams Commons and David Witherell for all of their help and support in caring for Guido.  

Funeral notice: The funeral for Guido Libardoni will be Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main St., North Adams, Mass. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.

There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to any veteran's organization of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
