Alice Saunders, 88

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Alice (Walker) Saunders, 88, of North Adams, Mass., died on Monday, November 20, 2017, at Williamstown Commons in Williamstown, Mass.

She was born in North Adams, Mass., on December 9, 1928, a daughter to the late Clarence and Pearl (Thompson) Walker. She attended schools in North Adams, graduating Drury High School, with the Class of 1946. She was employed at Wall Streeter Shoe Factory and then General Cable and Cord Master. She was an active member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church and its Jolle Circle.

Mrs. Saunders was the widow of William Edward Saunders, whom she married on May 17, 1947. Mr. Saunders died November 5, 1993. She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Grande and her husband, Charles, and Marcia Ray and her husband, Larry, of North Adams; and two sons, William Saunders and his wife, Diane, of Windsor, Mass., and Donald Saunders and his wife, Karen, of North Adams. She also leaves 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Andreatta of North Adams; sister-in-laws Mary Saunders and Judith Walker; as well as several nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her sister and brother, Phyllis Stone and Clarence Walker; and her great-grandson, Griffin Francis Charland, who predeceased her on August 31, 2017.

Funeral notice: A funeral service to celebrate the life of Alice Saunders will be held at the Flynn and Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main Street, on Monday, November 27, 2017, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. 

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2017, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Flynn and Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel. Donations in her memory can be made to either the Alzheimer’s Association or All Saints’ Episcopal Church.
