David L. Mitchell, 59

BECKET, Mass. — David Louis Mitchell, 59, of Becket, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack at home on Christmas Day, December 25, 2017.

David was born May 17, 1958, the son of the late Paul U. Mitchell and Judith Perkins. David was raised in Becket and attended local schools, graduating from Wahconah High School. After high school, David enlisted in the US Army, serving from 1976 until 1983 when he was honorably discharged as a sergeant. 

David worked at the Onyx Corporation in Lee for the past 20 years as a millwright. David loved music and was a member of the Becket Praise Team.

Besides his wife, the former Tammy Martin, whom he married August 5, 1989, David leaves behind his mother, Judith Perkins of Sarasota, Fla.; his son, Kyle Mitchell and his wife Casey of Huntington; his two daughters, Lindsey Mitchell of Becket and Marley Mitchell of Pittsfield; and his two grandchildren:, Terra Fiore and Annabelle Mitchell. In addition, he leaves behind a brother, Scott Mitchell and his wife Sue of Port Charlotte, Fla.; his two sisters, Paula Nunley and her husband Art of Cache, Okla., and Debbie Sawyer of Becket; his stepmother, Patricia Mitchell of Becket; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral notice: A Memorial Service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Becket, 22 YMCA Road, on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Kevin Smail, officiating. As per the wishes of David and his family, there will be no visiting hours.
