Recollections & Sympathy For the Family

Dick was truly a great guy and friend! I consider myself fortunate to know him and share many memories of him through the years skiing, softball, fishing and just hanging out together. He was very pleasant and kind man who thought very highly of his family. He will truly be missed by everyone that had the opportunity to know him! We wish his family the best in this time of sorrow and know that their memories of him will always bring a smile as it does for me.

Dick was a gentle and soft spoken guy. He was a hero to me and many of my closest friends. We admired his extraordinary strength and athletic prowess. I remember his dominance on the football field. I loved watching him play at the Astro Blue Bonnet Bowl in 1969. I remember former Williams College football coach, Bib Odell telling me that “The strongest guy on this team is in the equipment room” - Referring to Dick. He will be missed.

My heart filled with incredible sadness this morning when I read about Richards passing. My sincere sympathy to the Cummings family for your tremendous loss. I grew up in South Williamstown, worked at the Five-Corners Store when the Cummings operated it and knew the family well. Richard “Dickie” to us growing up was an awesome individual. I will always remember him skiing at Brodie Mt, MGRHS Foot Ball, U-Mass Football, and some mischievous antics that I won’t mention but will always remember with a little laugh and smile for Dickie. You are all in my prayers.
